Jeongseon Ongju Tomb Site

This is the tomb site of the Andong Kwon clan, into which Princess Jeongseon (Jeongseon Ongju) married, located in Gung-dong, Guro-gu, from the late Joseon Dynasty. Princess Jeongseon was the seventh daughter of King Seonjo, the 14th monarch of Joseon, and married Kwon Dae-im of the influential Andong Kwon clan, living in what is now 67 Gung-dong, Guro-gu. The name 'Gung-dong' originates from their residence, which was a tiled-roof house resembling a palace. The Jeongseon Ongju Tomb Site contains several tombs of the Andong Kwon clan, including that of Kwon Dae-im, the princess's husband, and is often regarded by feng shui practitioners as the best of auspicious sites. These tombs serve as valuable examples of the construction methods for tombs of Joseon meritorious subjects, and the tomb's memorial stele (sindobi) and tombstone are considered important resources for studying burial practices of the time. Adjacent to the Jeongseon Ongju Tomb Site is the Gung-dong Ecological Park, which features an ecological trail, walking paths, rest pavilions, and exercise equipment, making it ideal for walks. The park boasts over 25,000 various flowers and trees, and about 100 colorful koi fish swim in the reservoir, offering a rare beautiful landscape and ecological environment in Seoul. It is recommended to visit the Jeongseon Ongju Tomb Site in conjunction with the park.
