Korea Muslim Federation Seoul Central Mosque

서울특별시 용산구 한남동

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Korea Muslim Federation Seoul Central Mosque is the first mosque in South Korea, established to introduce Islam and Arab culture to the country and to facilitate smooth exchanges with Islamic nations. The Seoul Central Mosque has prayer halls on the first and second floors. The annex building has male and female ablution rooms on the basement level, a lecture room on the first floor, and offices on the second floor. The attached Islamic Center is a three-story building: the first floor has rental shops, the second and third floors house an Islamic missionary school for Muslim children, and the third floor also has a Muslim congregation hall, a women's association, and a library. Outside the Seoul Central Mosque, there are halal restaurants, a halal butcher shop, a halal supermarket, an Islamic bookstore, and a travel agency. As the mosque is a religious space, there are several things to be mindful of. Clothing that is too revealing, such as sleeveless tops, short skirts, or shorts, is not allowed, and smoking inside the mosque is prohibited. Non-Muslims are allowed to enter the mosque, but care must be taken not to disturb worshippers, such as pointing cameras at people during prayer. It is close to Exit 3 of Itaewon Station on Seoul Subway Line 6, and nearby is the Itaewon World Food Culture Street.
