Haebangchon Village

Haebangchon was named after the liberation of Korea in 1945, when displaced people returning from abroad and those fleeing the war settled on the hillside below Namsan Mountain. This village spans across Yongsan-dong 1-ga and Yongsan-dong 2-ga in Yongsan-gu, around Namsan Mountain in Seoul. As one of Seoul's representative 'dal-dongne' (moon villages), Haebangchon was designated as the Yongsan Redevelopment District in 1979 and underwent housing construction projects, but it still retains the narrow alleys and hillside characteristics of a dal-dongne. In 2021, through the Yongsan-gu Urban Regeneration Project, the environment was improved so that tourists can explore the village via themed routes, and an inclined elevator was installed at the famous '108 Stairs' of Haebangchon. Known as a filming location for dramas such as <My Name is Kim Sam-soon>, <Itaewon Class>, <When the Camellia Blooms>, and a <Sony Camera Advertisement>, it continues to attract many visitors.
