Garaesil Culture Village (Byeolbyeol Art Village)

Yeongcheon Garaesil Culture Village is known as 'Byeolbyeol Art Village.' The entire village is filled with murals and impressive sculptures, giving the feeling of being in an outdoor art museum, earning it the nickname 'roofless art museum.' In line with Yeongcheon's title as the 'City of Stars,' there are many star-themed artworks.

Byeolbyeol Art Village was selected for the 2011 Village Art Project competition hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Village Art Project is an initiative that discovers local identity as cultural content and sublimates it into art to enhance cultural enjoyment and revitalize the region. The 'Happiness Project - New Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land' created in Yeongcheon is a representative example. Spanning the areas of Gasang-ri, Hwasan-ri, and Gwihori in Hwasan-myeon, Yeongcheon-si, 45 diverse artworks have been installed throughout the village, transforming an ordinary area into a large-scale art village.
