Geumann Cultural Park

Geumann Cultural Park is a park located at Gupabal, Jingwan-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. It is a place imbued with the history and culture of Eunpyeong, featuring the story of a grandfather and grandson who shone in the late Joseon Dynasty. This site was originally Geumann Station (Geumanncham), where relay station horsemen changed horses to transmit military information during the Joseon period, and it was a resting stop for kings on their way to royal tombs. There is a monument called Geumann Gijeokbi, which bears an inscription of a poem composed by King Jeongjo, the 22nd ruler of Joseon, when he stopped here to rest on his way to pay respects at the tomb of his grandfather, King Sukjong, recalling the virtuous governance of his grandfather, King Yeongjo. There is also a dismounting stone (Hamabi) inscribed with a message that anyone passing through this place during the Joseon era must dismount from their horse. Geumann Cultural Park features a children's playground that applies advanced IT technologies such as LED lighting, multimedia, and sensors to provide fun through play and game-based education. There is also a sand playground with a nearby tap for washing hands after play. Across from the children's playground, there are exercise equipment for adults, allowing children and adults to enjoy exercise in the same space. Some exercise equipment lights up when powered by movement, adding fun when used at night.
