Why travelers stop here
Samhae Soju is a traditional soju designated as Seoul Metropolitan City Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 8. It operates a experience space in a workshop located in Mapo where visitors can taste and learn about various traditional liquors. Here, anyone can deepen their understanding of traditional liquor through general tasting, distillation experiences, and regular academy programs. Samhaeju is synonymous with liquor from the Joseon Dynasty, having been commercially produced in Mapo, Seoul for a long time and maintaining its reputation. Samhae Soju, made by distilling yakju (medicinal liquor) produced through long-term low-temperature fermentation using non-glutinous rice, glutinous rice, nuruk (fermentation starter), and water, is characterized by its deep flavor and clean taste without hangovers. In particular, Samhaeju is brewed only once a year in winter using the samyangju method, making it one of the longest-fermenting liquors in Korea.
