Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

The main building of Korea University, originally Bosung Professional School, was designed by Park Dong-jin and built by Kim Seong-su, who managed the school. Construction began in 1933 and was completed in 1934. It is a three-story building (the central tower is six stories) in a symmetrical Gothic style, primarily made of granite. The floor plan is H-shaped, with a large hall in the center. The two stone pillars at the entrance are carved with tiger statues symbolizing the school's spirit, and the stone pillars at the central rear gate are carved with hibiscus flowers. At the time of construction, its interior and exterior were luxurious and grand, making it an unprecedented and excellent school building in Korea.
