서울특별시 관악구 신림동 산 56-2

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gwanaksan Mountain, towering south of the Han River in Seoul, forms the boundary between Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, and the cities of Anyang and Gwacheon in Gyeonggi Province. The mountain peak consists of rocks that resemble a traditional Korean hat (gat), giving it the name Gwanaksan. It is easily accessible by public transportation and boasts impressive rocky ridges, making it a popular course for hikers. Among the trails, the route to Gukgibong via Gwaneumsa Temple, a temple founded during the Unified Silla period, offers a short yet intense experience of Gwanaksan's charm. Although the trail includes many rocks and some steep sections, the summit rewards hikers with an outstanding view that makes the effort worthwhile. There is also a scenic observation deck where visitors can rest and take in the scenery. Gwaneumsa Gukgibong can be comfortably hiked up and down in about 2 hours for an adult.
