Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Sungin Neighborhood Park is a park located on Dongmangsan Mountain in Sungin-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is also called Dongmangsan Park. Opened in 1980 as an urban park, it was created for residents to rest, take walks, and engage in light exercise. Covering an area of 45,615㎡, it is a nature-friendly space where residents can relax, stroll, and do light workouts. The park features pavilions, fitness facilities, a management office, and restrooms. The peak of Dongmangsan Mountain, where the park is situated, is called Dongmangbong. It is said that after King Danjong was exiled to Yeongwol, his queen, Queen Jeongsun, built a small hermitage called Jeongeopwon and looked east toward Yeongwol, longing for the king, which gave the peak its name. In April 2008, a memorial ceremony honoring Queen Jeongsun was held at this park.
