Ewha Womans University Natural History Museum

Ewha Womans University Natural History Museum was established on November 20, 1969, as the first of its kind in Korea, with the aim of contributing to school education and social education about nature. The museum features various specimens of animals, plants, minerals, rocks, and fossils, along with diorama exhibitions that recreate actual natural ecosystems, an ecology corner where live animals can be observed, and video facilities that allow visitors to experience natural environments through images. It serves as a living educational site for natural history, enabling easy access to nature in the city through the latest exhibition techniques.

The museum conducts pure academic research related to natural history, and collects, preserves, exhibits, and studies animals, plants, minerals, rocks, and fossils. It also investigates endangered species and houses and displays numerous rare specimens, including natural monuments, internationally protected birds, endemic and rare species, and new species. Valuable natural history specimens are stored in state-of-the-art storage rooms equipped with constant temperature and humidity control, serving as research resources. Additionally, the museum operates various science exploration experiments and nature observation programs for students, such as natural history classes, field study educational programs, and special lectures.
