Located in Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, the Gapyeong-gun Woodcraft Agricultural Cooperative was established with the purpose of effectively utilizing the region's abundant timber resources, generating income for local residents, and promoting regional specialization. On a vast site of 9,960㎡, the cooperative complex, consisting of an exhibition hall and a work building, was completed in 2004 and is currently in operation. Members, who are woodcraft experts, devote their full energy to each product with the persistence of craftsmanship. At the entrance of the Gapyeong-gun Woodcraft Agricultural Cooperative complex, various wooden totem poles (jangseung) are erected, characterized by their painted faces and diverse expressions, which are also the symbol of this place. Here, custom production for individuals and businesses is available, and finished woodcraft products are permanently displayed and sold. Various experiential learning and hands-on programs are operated for children and those interested in woodcraft. The Gapyeong-gun Woodcraft Agricultural Cooperative strives to preserve our traditions without being stubborn, continuously developing technology and conducting research to create products beneficial to modern life. It also provides various field trip and experiential learning opportunities to promote the excellence of our woodcraft products to more people.
