Galbat Sikdang

The mandarin fish caught in the Geumgang River is famous as a specialty of Daejeon, once presented to the king during the Joseon Dynasty, and the Sintanjin area in the middle reaches of the Geumgang River has long developed freshwater fish cuisine. After the completion of the Daecheong Dam in 1981, freshwater spicy stew restaurants opened nearby and have been recognized for their taste. Among them, Galbat Sikdang, located by Daecheong Lake, is a freshwater fish specialty restaurant. In addition to mandarin fish, it offers spicy stew and sashimi made with eel, trout, catfish, and bullhead catfish. The spicy stew is boiled with a secret homemade seasoning and various vegetables to remove the fishy smell of freshwater fish. Galbat Sikdang allows you to take a short break from downtown Daejeon, enjoy the view of Daecheong Lake and its surrounding scenery, and have a meal while relaxing. It is accessible via Daecheonghosu-ro, and public transportation includes Daejeon city buses No. 71-1 and No. 71-2. Nearby tourist attractions include Daecheong Dam, Geumgang Rohas Daecheong Park, Myeongsang Garden, and Daecheong Lake Waterfront Park.
