Why travelers stop here
Gamjabaw, located in Cheonghak-dong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, is a local Gangwon-do restaurant. It has maintained the same methods and flavors from over 30 years ago, with signature dishes being gamja ongsimi (potato dumpling soup) and hoe guksu (raw fish noodles). The savory gamja ongsimi has a great texture, and the hoe guksu features sweet and sour seasoned flounder and squid sashimi served over noodles. While there are also hoe deopbap (raw fish rice bowl), gamja jeon (potato pancake), and jaengban guksu (platter noodles), this is the only place that makes hoe guksu with chewy squid sashimi and flounder sekkosi (thinly sliced raw fish). There is no dedicated parking, so you must park nearby; the Seokbong Pottery public parking lot is not far away and available. Due to high demand, the area around the restaurant is very congested and parking is prohibited.
