Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
A beach located in Sanha-dong, Buk-gu, where rounded pebbles (mongdol) gather. It can be reached by driving north along the coastal road from Jujeon for about 20 minutes. To the north of Gangdong Mongdol Beach, there is the Gangdong Hwaam Columnar Joints, and it connects to Sinmyeong Beach. Gangdong Mongdol Beach is a rare mongdol beach on the east coast, and the sound of the pebbles colliding as they are pushed by the waves is quite loud.
The advantage of a mongdol beach is that it is easy to walk on and there is no hassle of getting sand stuck to the soles of your feet after swimming. The beach environment, restrooms, drinking fountains, and sinks are well-maintained, making it suitable for camping. Apartment complexes and commercial facilities such as cafes are located around the beach, providing convenient amenities.
