Gangneung Moraenae Han-gwa Village (Gal-gol Han-gwa)

Sacheon-myeon, Gangneung-si is a rural village called Moraenae because a stream with a lot of sand flows through it. Now more famous as Moraenae Han-gwa Village, this place was a poor village about 30 years ago. Continuing the tradition of traditional Korean confectionery (han-gwa) manufacturing techniques that have been passed down in the village for 130 years, the entire village participated in the "1 Gun 1 Famous Product" project, transforming into Moraenae Han-gwa Village, which produces han-gwa in the traditional way, and has become a debt-free, high-income village with a household farm income of 50 million won. * Gal-gol Han-gwa In our increasingly Westernized food culture, Gal-gol Han-gwa, which has maintained the unchanging traditional taste for over 100 years, is the house of a master who has passed down the master's hand taste for four generations. The Gangneung Han-gwa Experience Exhibition Hall was established to permanently inherit and widely promote our unique traditional food, with financial cooperation from the central government, Gangwon-do, and Gangneung-si, as part of policy support to preserve and succeed the master's manufacturing techniques handed down in Gangneung Han-gwa Village.
