Between Chayu Village and Gyeongjeong Village, the coastline features a wave-cut platform formed by approximately 100-million-year-old Cretaceous mudstone and sandstone, offering a rare landscape of red mudstone spreading before the East Sea. On the Chayu Village side, red mudstone is observed, while on the Gyeongjeong Village side, both red mudstone and white sandstone are exposed. The fact that the wave-cut platform, typically formed in shallow seas, is above sea level indicates that the land in the East Coast region has risen.
The flat expanse of red mudstone and white sandstone is due to the flat accumulation of grains in these rocks. On the northern Chayu Village coast, traces of an ancient river and burrows made by clams are visible.
