Gyeongcheondae Tourist Site

Sangju Gyeongcheondae is praised as the 'No. 1 Scenic Spot of the Nakdong River' for having the most beautiful scenery along the Nakdong River originating from Hwangji of Taebaek Mountain, and is also called Jacheondae because it is said to have been created by heaven. Here, you can encounter countless scenic spots and historical sites, including Cheonjubong Peak, which evokes a crane soaring into the sky after drinking from Gyeongcheondae and the Nakdong River; a dense pine forest and observatory where you can rest while admiring the rocky cliffs and meandering river; Muujeong Pavilion and Gyeongcheondae Monument, where the renowned scholar Udam Chae Deuk-gi secluded himself and studied in 1637; and the legendary horse-feeding trough of General Jeong Gi-ryong, a great commander during the Japanese invasions of Korea. Sangju City operates an observatory, artificial waterfall, Gyeongcheondae Children's Land, a camping ground, a swimming pool in summer, and a snow sledding slope in winter, developing the surrounding area into Gyeongcheondae Tourist Site so that Sangju citizens can enjoy rest and leisure, and tourists can engage in cultural tourism in connection with nearby regions. Nearby cultural heritage sites include the Tomb of King Sabeol, the Tomb of King of Ancient Gaya, the Three-Story Stone Pagoda in Hwadal-ri, Chunguisa Shrine and Donamseowon Confucian Academy, which are historical sites of General Jeong Gi-ryong, a great commander during the Japanese invasions of Korea. Additionally, there are Sangju Paragliding Field, the market street set of MBC drama 'Sangdo', and Sangju Art Village, making it an optimal place for comfortable rest and tourism with family. The Gyeongcheondae tourist course starts from the artificial waterfall, passes through the origin monument, Hwangto-gil (yellow earth path) and stone wall path, observatory, Gyeongcheondae, wooden bridge, filming site, suspension bridge, cloud bridge, hexagonal pavilion, and returns to the artificial waterfall, taking about 1 hour.
