Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Gyenam Village, where Gyenam Beach is located, was the setting for the mid-1960s film <Seommaeul Seonsaeng> (The Island Teacher). Because Saseungbong Island blocks the waves coming from the south, Gyenam Beach has relatively calm waves compared to other beaches like the large pool. This cozy beach, about 200m long, is quieter than the crowded Puldeung or Keunpuran Beach, making it a good place for family travelers who want to heal by a quiet sea. The beach has fine sand and a very gentle slope, so children can play in the water safely. When the tide goes out, you can catch small crabs or whelks in the rock crevices. Apart from restrooms and a drinking fountain, there are no notable facilities, but you can set up a parasol and enjoy a leisurely sea or pitch a tent in the shade of a tree for camping.
