Gyeryongsan, standing at 566m in the center of Geoje Island, borders Jangpyeong-dong to the north, Dongsang-ri to the south, and Oksan-ri to the west. To the north lies Daegeumsan, to the east Oknyeobong (555m), to the south Garasan (585m) and Nojasans (565m), and to the west Sanbangsan (507m). The mountain's peak resembles a rooster's comb, and the mountain is said to have formed the Gucheon Valley by coiling like a dragon, hence the name Gyeryongsan. It consists of three peaks. Below the highest peak are Uisangdae, where Uisangdaesa of the Silla Dynasty practiced asceticism, Bulimunbawi, Janggunbawi, Geobukbawi, and Jangkipanbawi. At the mid-slope is Gyeryongsa Temple. In spring, the main ridge from the summit of Gyeryongsan to Seonjasan is covered with royal azaleas, creating a spectacular view. From the summit of Gyeryongsan, the entire Geoje area can be seen at a glance.
