Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Walking along Goboksu-gil, a 150m stretch on Jungang 1-gil and Saejeumeunhaeggeori in Jung-gu, Ulsan, old buildings and alleys armed with retro sensibility speak to you. The Goboksu Music Hall, renovated from an old house, operates with the first floor as an exhibition space and the second floor as a complex cultural space. It is decorated to allow visitors to appreciate the life, works, and representative songs of Mr. Goboksu, a native of Ulsan famous for 'Tahyang Sal-i', and his wife Hwang Geum-sim. The music hall is furnished with items and interiors such as phonographs and pianos that evoke the atmosphere of the enlightenment period, making it perfect for taking retro-style photos. Ulsan holds the annual Goboksu Song Festival to honor the achievements of Mr. Goboksu, who left a significant mark on Korean popular music history, and to promote the development of Korean popular music. On the second floor, the cafe Seongnam Salon offers beverages where visitors can rest.
