Why travelers stop here
Jirisan Natural Recreation Forest is located in Eumjeong, Samjeong-ri, Macheon-myeon, Hamyang-gun. To the south of the recreation forest are Byeoksoryeong (1,392m), Hyungje-bong (1,433m), and Samgak-goji, which are part of the main ridge of Jirisan. To the east, Baengmu-dong Valley lies around the large ridge, and to the west, Samjeongsan (1,413m) borders Sannae-myeon. Jirisan Natural Recreation Forest is 31km from Saengcho IC on the Daejeon-Tongyeong Expressway and 20km from Jirisan (Inwol) IC on the Gwangju-Daegu Expressway, reachable within 30 minutes from the expressway, offering good accessibility, though public transportation is somewhat difficult. The characteristic of Jirisan Natural Recreation Forest is that the surrounding trees are old-growth primeval forests, and the recreation forest is located within this primeval forest, resulting in distinct four seasons and ever-changing diversity due to the high elevation differences. In spring, you can enjoy the beauty of wild cherry blossoms under the remaining snow of Byeoksoryeong and drink sap from Acer mono and Betula costata trees. The clear and cold water flowing in the valley is abundant, making it an ideal summer resort. In autumn, the valley's fall foliage and hiking to the main ridge of Jirisan offer sightseeing and climbing opportunities. In winter, the snowy scenery of Jirisan provides emotional stability and a quiet resting space. Within Jirisan National Park, there are hiking trails such as Baengmu-dong, Chilseon Valley, and Byeoksoryeong, and nearby attractions include Daewonsa Temple in Sancheong, Ssanggyesa Temple in Hadong, Hwaeomsa Temple in Gurye, and hot spring complexes, making it an excellent course to combine with the use of the natural recreation forest.
