Daegaya Historical Theme Tourist Site

This tourist site is themed around the history of Daegaya, which was the capital of the Daegaya confederacy and where Korea's first pottery, ironware, and gayageum culture flourished brilliantly. It offers attractions such as a 4D video theater, an exhibition hall of artifacts and the mysterious land of Daegaya for hands-on experiences, and the Daegaya exploration forest trail, allowing visitors to see, feel, and experience ancient culture through cutting-edge facilities. Gaya was a confederation that existed from around the turn of the millennium until 562 AD when Daegaya was absorbed by Silla. Based on its advanced iron culture, it pursued independent foreign exchanges and left behind outstanding cultural heritage like the gayageum. With growing interest in Gaya recently, active research is underway on the historical perspective of the 'Four Kingdoms Period'—including Gaya—rather than the 'Three Kingdoms Period' of Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. Goryeong County belonged to the Gaya cultural sphere, and as the central capital of Daegaya, many artifacts and relics from the Gaya period have been excavated here. As the capital of Daegaya, it played a central role in Gaya culture, and to further promote Gaya cultural festival exchanges, academic and historical value, reorganize the Gaya cultural sphere, and restore and disseminate Gaya culture, the 'Daegaya Historical Theme Tourist Site' was established in Goryeong County, the central capital of Daegaya.
