Domyeongsan

Located in Hwayang-ri, Cheongcheon-myeon, Goesan-gun, this mountain has an elevation of 643m and is a renowned mountain embracing Hwayang-dong, a natural valley within Songnisan National Park. It is a mountain formed by a rocky uplift of the mountain range branching north from Nakhyeongsan before its vein subsides into the Hwayangcheon Stream. As its name suggests, near the Samchebul area, many people can be found earnestly praying to attain enlightenment. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the summit, and with well-maintained safety facilities such as log stairs and iron ladders, one can easily ascend to the top.

The summit is formed by five large and small rocks grouped together. Sitting on the highest and largest rock, one feels as if there is no other immortal. To the east stretches a ridge from Baegaksan, to the west beyond it lies Geumdansan, to the south over Nakhyeongsan are the sawtooth-like peaks of Songnisan, and to the north across Hwayangcheon stands the majesty of Gunasan. Around the summit, a few pine trees, well-grown like bonsai, evoke the passage of fleeting time.
