Donnaeko (Wonang Falls)

Donnaeko is a valley located in Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, where you can see emerald-colored river water and lush evergreen broad-leaved forests. It features the 5m-high Wonang Falls and a small pond, making the scenery very beautiful. Wonang Falls, which can be reached by walking about 20 minutes along a trail from the entrance of Donnaeko, has two streams of water falling. It is said that a loving pair of mandarin ducks (wonang) once lived here, hence the name Wonang Falls. The water flowing down from Hallasan Mountain is as cold as ice and clear, making it a famous summer resort for water play and other activities. On Baekjung Day (the 15th day of the 7th lunar month), it is said that all neuralgia disappears if you get hit by the water, so it is most crowded then. The forest path from the entrance of Donnaeko Resort to the valley, about 700m long, is densely covered with evergreen broad-leaved trees, with wooden benches along the way, making it good for forest bathing. Across from the valley entrance, about 300m away on the roadside, there are well-equipped camping grounds, parking lots, cooking facilities, and exercise facilities. Nearby, there are local restaurants where you can taste Jeju's unique delicacies such as native chickens.
