Why travelers stop here
Dongmyeong-dong Cafe Street, emerging as a hot place, was a representative affluent neighborhood in Gwangju, mixing high-end houses and old hanoks from the 1970s to the 1990s. It once lost its vitality due to the decline of the old downtown, but as academies concentrated in Dongmyeong-dong, cafes for parents began to appear. As these cafes gradually pursued individuality with unique interiors and drinks, various styles of cafes opened, creating today's local brand, Dongmyeong-dong Cafe Street. With a unique atmosphere and a variety of cafes of different styles and themes, visitors can choose the ambiance and menu that suits them. Since the cafe street was created in an old downtown alley, parking is not smooth, but there is a parking lot affiliated with the National Asian Culture Center nearby. Dongridan-gil has many alleys and small parks, making it a good place for walks or relaxation. Currently, the writings on the ground and murals with unique paintings are worth seeing, and it has become a travel spot emerging as a place for unique cafes, artworks, and rest areas.
