Dongcheonseoksil

Dongcheonseoksil is a hermitage where, in Neo-Confucianism, the immortal world where immortals live is said to be, offering a panoramic view of Buyongdong, and it is located halfway up the mountain facing Nakseojae. In a space of 3,306m² (about 1,000 pyeong), a one-room pavilion, stone gate, stone pond, stone stream, stone waterfall, and stone field were created, and it was a place where people drank tea and composed poetry. Dongcheonseoksil is named after the term Dongcheonbokji (洞天福地), which refers to a place where immortals live among the world's famous mountains and scenic spots, and it is the highest pavilion in the area, built for rest and reading. In the stone pond, water lilies were planted, and the pond was divided into two parts with an artificial hole dug to allow water to flow in and out, and a bridge was built, called Heehwanggyo. Even now, in front of the stone chamber, there remain Yongduam, where a pulley was once hung, and Chabawi, where tea was brewed and drunk. It takes about 5 minutes by car from the Yun Seondo Garden ticket office to the entrance of Dongcheonseoksil, and then about 20 minutes of hiking uphill from the entrance to Dongcheonseoksil. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, a cultural commentator is stationed at Seoyeonjeong, so it is recommended to listen to explanations about Dongcheonseoksil, Goksudang, and Nakseojae before visiting.
