Manisan is also called Marisan, Marusan, or Duaksan. It is the highest mountain on Ganghwado Island, with an elevation of 472.1m, located at the midpoint between Baekdusan and Hallasan. At the summit lies Chamseongdan, recorded in the [Goryeosa] geography section, [Sejong Sillok] geography section, and various other historical and geographical texts as the place where Dangun Wanggeom performed heavenly rites. The base is built in a circular shape to symbolize heaven, and the altar is built in a square shape to symbolize earth, forming a round-bottom, square-top structure. Even today, rituals are held on Gaecheonjeol (National Foundation Day), and the torch for the National Sports Festival is lit by seven maidens. Known as a sacred site of the nation, Manisan boasts beautiful mountain scenery and is said to have the strongest energy in Korea, earning it the title of the nation's top vital energy spot. There are three main hiking courses: the 918-step trail called 'Gaemiheori' (Ant's Waist), the Dangun Trail, and the course ascending from Hamheodongcheon. From the summit, Incheon International Airport, Yeongjongdo Island, Jangbongdo Island, and other surrounding islands come into full view, attracting many tourists.
