Why travelers stop here
Maisan Provincial Park features Maisan Mountain, a medicinal herb town and exhibition hall, red ginseng spa, and accommodation facilities such as Hongsambill. It is also famous for various attractions including natural monuments like the wild pear tree and evergreen spindle tree, as well as tourist hiking trails suitable for play and relaxation.
Maisan Mountain consists of two peaks called Ammaibong (687.4m) and Sumaibong (681.1m), along with about ten smaller peaks, spanning the boundary between Danyang-ri, Jinan-eup and Dongchon-ri, Maryeong-myeon. Visible from any direction in Jinan town, Maisan has four names depending on the season. In spring, the two peaks piercing through the mist resemble a double sailboat, so it is called Dotdaebong; in summer, when the trees become lush, it looks like a dragon's horn, hence Yonggakbong; in autumn, the autumn foliage resembles a horse's ear, so it is called Maibong; in winter, without snow accumulation, it looks like the tip of a brush dipped in ink, thus Munpilbong.
