Mannyeonsan

Mannyeonsan is a mountain with an elevation of 609m, located on the border between Hwasun-eup and Dong-gu, Gwangju, and is connected to Mudeungsan, a famous mountain in Gwangju. The main ridge of Mudeungsan stretches southwest, with one branch descending to Anyangsan and continuing to the Honam Jeongmaek, while another branch extends further southwest, slightly veering southeast to form the peak of Mannyeonsan. Mannyeonsan is also known by the alias Nahan-san. In old texts such as Yeojidoseo and Haedongjido, it is recorded as Nahan-san. Currently, it is called Mannyeonsan rather than Nahan-san, which seems to originate from the Mannyeonsa Temple located at the foot of the mountain. The northern ridge of the mountain connects to Mudeungsan, and hiking trails have been developed. The Mannyeonsan O-gam Connection Trail, known as a natural healing forest, has been developed, and it is said that this trail was walked by Dasan Jeong Yak-yong while reading. Nearby, there are attractions such as Mannyeon Falls and the Mannyeonsan Healing Forest, as well as a recreational forest, making it a popular destination for hikers and summer vacationers.
