Mangjedong Stone Standing Buddha (Daeam Stone Buddha)

This is a stone Buddha located on the mid-slope of Manjebong Peak, a branch of Duseungsan Mountain in Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do, also known as Daeam Stone Buddha. The head wears a large hat-like rim, indicating a Confucian influence. The shoulders are somewhat hunched, and there are U-shaped robe folds under the chin. Below the abdomen, the robe folds are treated in a V-shape, and three parallel lines descend below the wrists. The right hand is raised to shoulder height with the palm facing outward and fingertips pointing upward. The left hand also shows the palm, but with fingertips pointing downward. This statue focuses on facial and hand expressions, exhibiting folk characteristics. It is a large Buddha, 4m tall with a shoulder circumference of 2.7m, carved from a single stone and well-preserved. Nearby tourist attractions include Changdongseowon Confucian Academy, Baekunam Stone Standing Buddha, Malmokjeong Pavilion and Persimmon Tree, Jeon Bong-jun's Former House, and the Malmokjangteo Site Monument, allowing for linked tours.
