Mochungsa

Located within Sarabong Park in Geonip-dong, Jeju City, Mochungsa is a shrine built on January 11, 1977, with donations from 170,000 residents of Jeju Island and the mainland. Its name means 'to admire the loyal hearts of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the fatherland during the Japanese colonial period.' Mochungsa features three tall monuments. At the entrance, the Uibyeong Hangjaeng (Righteous Army Resistance) Memorial Tower stands in the center, with the Monument to Patriotic Martyr Jo Bong-ho on the left and the Memorial Tower to Kim Man-deok Hal-mang on the right. The forest path around these monuments is beautifully maintained, offering a recommended walking course for local residents and tourists to reflect on Jeju's history while taking a rest.
