Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

* A Space Harmonizing with the Sea, Millak Waterside Park*

Suyeong-gu is a place with a long history and tradition, boasting outstanding scenery. Behind it lies Geumnyeonsan Mountain with its beautiful mountain ranges, and in front is Gwangalli Beach, making it a typical scenic spot with mountains in the back and the sea in the front. During the Joseon Dynasty, it was a strategically important area as the site of the Gyeongsangjwa-do Naval Commander's Office. The name Suyeong originated as an abbreviation of the Naval Commander's Office and has become the current place name. Construction of Millak Waterside Park began in August 1992 and was completed in May 1997, creating a park 543 meters long and 60 meters wide. This park is the first waterside park in Korea to combine the sea with a relaxation space, located midway between Haeundae and Gwangalli. Covering an area of 10,000 pyeong (approximately 33,000 square meters) and capable of accommodating 40,000 people, it features colored blocks on the ground, flower beds, shade structures, benches, and other convenience facilities. The 3,040 square meter stand, where visitors can watch various events while looking out at the sea, is a space where seawater flows in during high tide, allowing people to dip their feet.
