Miryang Yeongnamnu Pavilion

Yeongnamnu Pavilion (National Treasure), located on A-dong Mountain next to Miryang Namcheon Stream, is considered one of the three great pavilions of Korea along with Jinju's Chokseoknu and Pyeongyang's Bubyeoknu. This massive two-story pavilion, with a hipped-and-gable roof spanning five bays east-west and four bays north-south, and flanked by two attached pavilions on the left and right, was originally a small pavilion attached to Yeongnamsa Temple, one of the five great temples of Silla. After Yeongnamsa Temple was abandoned, records indicate that during the reign of King Gongmin of Goryeo, the existing pavilion was demolished and rebuilt on a larger scale. The current structure was rebuilt in 1884 by Miryang Magistrate Lee In-jae.

* Buildings and Attractions of Yeongnamnu * Annex buildings include Neungpagak, Chimnyugak, Sajumun, Iljumun, and Cheonjingung. The Yeongnamnu pavilion houses a collection of calligraphic works by famous masters of the era, displayed as plaques that illuminate the flow of history, while the stone flowers in the courtyard also catch visitors' eyes. The passage between Chimnyugak and the main pavilion is connected by a moon-shaped stepped pathway, enhancing the distinctive layout and composition of the buildings, which exude a majestic spirit and showcase the essence of dignified yet picturesque beauty. Additionally, located on a cliff overlooking the Miryang River, it casts a grand shadow and offers a splendid landscape. In 1931, when the Japanese Government-General of Korea selected the 16 scenic views of Joseon, Yeongnamnu was chosen as one of them.
