Why travelers stop here
Stretching across Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun and Wondong-myeon, Yangsan-si, Baenaegol is surrounded by the high peaks of Gajisan, known as the Yeongnam Alps, and the first-class clean water flowing down the mountain slopes creates a scene reminiscent of a painting. It is called Baenaegol because many wild pear trees grow along the clear stream. As a long valley nestled between highlands, the amount of sunlight is more than two hours shorter than other areas, and the clear valley water continuously flows, creating a cool atmosphere even in summer. Known for its beautiful valley scenery and the production of gorosoe sap (maple sap), it has attracted many tourists. Baenaegol Valley is designated as a water supply protection zone, and due to many deep pools and rapid currents, swimming and cooking are strictly prohibited.
