Why travelers stop here
There are two ports in Munam-ri. Munam Port, named after the village, and Munam 1-ri Port, called Baekdo Port due to its white rocks, are located side by side with Baekdo Beach between them. Each port in Munam-ri boasts its own unique charm, but if you were to pick the most impressive one, it would be Munam 1-ri Port, Baekdo Port. The breakwater and lighthouse embrace the port cozily, creating a warm and friendly scenery unique to Baekdo Port. Gentle waves roll in beside the lighthouse, which seems close enough to touch, and small boats anchored in the port gather together, swaying softly, bringing a sense of peace to the heart.
It is said that the name Baekdo Port comes from two small white rock islands covered in seagull droppings near the port, making the origin of the name interesting. The beauty of Baekdo Port can also be seen underwater. Especially for those who enjoy skin scuba diving, Baekdo Port is a top exploration site, and those who have been underwater at Baekdo Port praise the scenery, comparing it to the landscape of Ulsanbawi Rock in Seoraksan Mountain. Underwater, you can observe various coral reefs, sea squirts, sea anemones, and fish species such as rockfish. In particular, the scallops farmed at Baekdo Port are so delicious that people visit specifically for them. You can purchase large scallops directly at the scallop wholesale market, or have them grilled at nearby restaurants.
