Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Baekseok Falls, spanning across Bukpyeong-myeon in Jeongseon-gun and Jinbu-myeon in Pyeongchang-gun, is an artificial waterfall that descends from the summit of Baekseokbong Peak at an elevation of 1,170m. It was created by laying a pipe approximately 600m long to draw water from the surrounding valley and drop it into the Odaechen Stream, with a waterfall height of 116m. Since the waterfall was made by diverting the valley's water flow rather than forcibly pumping water, it has a more natural appearance, with water flowing down all year round. The sight of the waterfall falling from a height of over 100m is spectacular. The waterfall can also be viewed from the Baekseok Falls Rest Area on National Route 59.
