Why travelers stop here
Seoraksan, the mountain beauty. Seoraksan, the highest (Daecheongbong Peak 1,708m) among the Taebaek Mountain Range, the backbone of the Korean Peninsula, is the most beautiful mountain in South Korea. It evokes admiration from visitors in all seasons: various flowers such as azaleas in spring, clear and clean valley water in summer, autumn foliage around the Seorakje Festival period, and snowy landscapes in winter. With Hangyeryeong and Misiryeong as boundaries, the eastern side towards the East Sea is called Oeseorak, the western side is called Naeseorak, and the area south of Hangyeryeong, Osaek District, is also classified as Namseorak. The Namseorak area has been famous for Osaek Mineral Water and hot springs since ancient times, and the scenic beauty is formed by representative landscapes such as Yongsopokpo Falls, Sipipokpo Falls, and Yeosinpokpo Falls in the Jujeongol area. Jombongsan (1,424.2m) also belongs to the Namseorak zone. In the Namseorak area, representative hiking courses include the Osaek-Daecheong course and the Hangyeryeong-Kkeutcheong-Daecheong course. The entrance to the Osaek course is the national park ticket booth on the national road, above the Greenyard Hotel, and the entrance to the Hangyeryeong course is the Seorakru stairs next to the Hangyeryeong Rest Area.
