Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park

Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park stretches from the stream behind the National Assembly in Yeouido to the center of Gayang Bridge, making the most of the natural environment with clusters of willows, reeds, and silver grass. Using groundwater from the nearby subway, it features a stream waterfall and ponds, and is planted with wetland plants such as cattails, water dropwort, and water hyacinth to improve water quality and suit the natural environment. The park includes bicycle paths, walking trails, two parking lots, five bridges, two plazas, an information center, a grass yard, a park golf course, an ecological waterway, a sweet flag garden, a willow forest, a water purification garden, a silver grass colony, and a closed wetland. It also operates ecological programs such as ecological commentary, nature observation, and nature play. The information center has a learning space, an ecological program operation room, and a firefly breeding facility. Although located amid the skyscraper forest in the heart of Seoul, the park features fields full of wildflowers and a stream inhabited by minnows, rice fish, and crucian carp. Reeds and silver grass grow thickly, and a 6km walking trail is established with information boards about native plants every 20 to 30 meters. Rare animals and plants live here, including the natural monument kestrel, as well as spot-billed ducks, grey herons, violets, pondweeds, and minnows. To avoid harming nature, the ecological park has no benches, shops, or streetlights, ensuring rest and sleep for animals and plants. The park is open year-round, but access to some sections may be restricted during animal breeding seasons. It is located 700m from Exit 1 of Yeouido Station on Seoul Subway Line 5.
