Talyeongyeok Post Office

Located in the middle of a residential area near Gwangheungchang Station on Subway Line 6, Talyeongyeok Post Office is a long-term project by [Ria Collective] that transforms the former Changjeon-dong Post Office building into a cultural space. The space is named after the old word for post office, 'Ujeongguk,' combining the meaning of 'post' as in 'after' from POST OFFICE, a place of communication, and 'tal' meaning 'beyond genre and boundaries,' resulting in the name 'Talyeongyeok Post Office.' Talyeongyeok Post Office aims to operate the space for the 10-year lease period, pursuing boundaryless art through the connection of physical platforms and content, and experimentation. The building has a first floor, which was the post office work area, and a second floor, used as a residence. The first floor is mainly used as an exhibition hall, performance hall, screening room, and for other purposes, while the second floor hosts various events such as exhibitions, small-scale projects, and workshops depending on the project. True to its nature as a repurposed idle space, Talyeongyeok Post Office retains traces of its post office days, including a large safe and an incinerator for burning waste. Rentals are differentiated into general rentals and collaborative rentals based on the event organizer and planning content. Talyeongyeok Post Office consistently presents experimental works by artists from various fields, including not only the art world but also performance, experimental sound, and experimental art, through video, painting, installation, performance, workshops, screenings, lectures, and talks, offering diverse culture and arts to nearby students and local residents. It is a rare art space where visitors can view the gallery with their pets.
