Namsan Park (Seoul)

Namsan Park is a natural resting place located in the heart of Seoul, providing clean air to citizens. It is also a center of leisure life where various activities such as using facilities like N Seoul Tower and Namsan Cable Car, walking, exercising, and relaxing are possible. The official name of Namsan Park is Namsan Urban Natural Park. Namsan is a symbol of Seoul located in the center of the city. Its original name was Ingyeongsan, but after King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty moved the capital from Gaeseong to Seoul, it was called 'Namsan' because it is a mountain to the south. It is also an important mountain in terms of feng shui as the 'Ansan' (front mountain). From 1991 to 1999, through the 'Restoring Namsan's Original Form' project, 89 negative facilities within the park were relocated, and an outdoor botanical garden was created. The areas of Yejang-dong and Hoehyeon-dong in Jung-gu, and Hannam-dong in Yongsan-gu were extensively restored and maintained, providing citizens with rest and clean air, and transforming the park into a center of leisure life. On the way up to the Namsan Tower observatory, there is the famous 'Locks of Love' in Namsan Park. Many locks are already hung there, symbolizing the protection of lovers' love. Reading the messages written on the numerous locks is a small pleasure. Since May 1, 2005, general passenger cars and taxis have been banned from entering Namsan Park. To reach Namsan Seoul Tower, you can take a shuttle bus from Myeongdong, Chungmuro, or Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station, use the Namsan Cable Car, or walk up as a stroll.
