Statue of Dr. Syngman Rhee (Uam)

The Statue of Dr. Syngman Rhee (Uam) is located within Baejae High School, erected to commemorate Dr. Syngman Rhee's contributions to the independence movement. It was built in 1984 and measures 3 meters in height and 1 meter in width. Syngman Rhee, who studied classical Chinese from a young age, entered Baejae Hakdang, the predecessor of the current Baejae High School where the statue stands, and learned modern studies. He led reform movements in the media and the Independence Club during the enlightenment period and was imprisoned. After his release, he went to the United States, earned a doctorate, and engaged in diplomacy, national education, and promotional activities abroad for Korea's liberation. After liberation, he became the first President of the Republic of Korea upon its establishment in 1948.
