Bukhansan Baegundae (Uidong)

Bukhansan, known as the guardian mountain of Seoul, offers a truly spectacular view from the summit of Baegundae, which stands at 836 meters above sea level. There are various ways to climb Baegundae, and among them, the course starting from Bukhansanui Station is recommended for those who are new to hiking or not familiar with it. This course, which goes from the entrance of Doseonsa Temple through Harujae and the area around Insubong, and then via the Baegundae Ammun of Bukhansanseong Fortress to Baegundae, is the shortest in length and relatively low in difficulty. The total time required is about 2 to 3 hours. Walking slowly toward Baegundae, you will see Insubong, where it is said that King Onjo of Baekje climbed with his brother Biryu to decide the location of the nation's capital. From this point, a rocky course begins that requires moving along steep slopes and holding onto ropes. Upon reaching the Baegundae Ammun, located at the highest point of Bukhansanseong Fortress, you have about 300 meters left to the summit. At the summit of Baegundae, there is a spacious rock, perfect for cooling off and enjoying the open surrounding scenery. Additionally, as there are many rocky ridge sections, wearing hiking boots is recommended.
