Why travelers stop here
Gasa Beach, where red camellia flowers are said to dye the blue seawater red in March, is the only beach on Joyak Island, surrounded by hundreds of centuries-old camellia trees, machilus, and chestnut trees that encircle the entire beach in a round shape. Gasa-dong's evergreen broad-leaved forest blocks the sky and creates a shade cover. Beneath the shade, cool water flowing down from Jangyongsan Mountain is filled with cold air even in midsummer, making it difficult to dip your feet. Joyak Island has been famous for black goats since ancient times, and it is gaining attention as a summer resort where you can refresh your body with black goat meat along with your vacation. Nearby, there is a temple called Haedongsa with a great view. The surrounding area is a sea fishing spot rich in fish resources such as sea bream, sea bass, and rockfish, allowing fishing all year round.
