Bonsai Museum

The Bonsai Museum is a specialized bonsai museum opened in September 1988 by the Korean Bonsai Research Institute to widely promote bonsai culture. It displays over 5,000 bonsai specimens cultivated and collected by the Korean Bonsai Research Institute for more than 20 years, and houses about 1,000 pieces of bonsai-related materials, including ancient documents and photographs. Among the collected bonsai, there are over 200 highly artistic works, including a 300-year-old maple tree, a juniper tree over 500 years old, as well as black pine, various fruit trees, plum trees, and crape myrtle trees. Visitors can experience the charm of bonsai that encapsulate small natural landscapes and the beauty of changes over time and seasons. The museum also has a Tree Design College for bonsai education and a tree hospital for treating sick trees. The museum's activities focus on bonsai education for public officials and the general public. Basic and technical bonsai classes are held once a week for the general public, and commissioned education is conducted six times a year for relevant public officials.
