Why travelers stop here

58-4 Samcheong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul

Barakat Gallery, which began in the 1860s and continues a tradition spanning 150 years, houses over 40,000 museum-grade ancient artworks. Starting with a collection of biblical artifacts gathered in Jerusalem, the Barakat family has expanded its collection over five generations to include artifacts from Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Byzantine, Islamic, European, Asian, African, and Pre-Columbian cultures, spanning all eras and regions. The Barakat collection boasts the highest level of beauty, historical value, rarity, and preservation, in addition to its vast scope covering time and geography. Barakat Gallery has collaborated with world-renowned museums and has made significant contributions to culture, art, archaeology research, and education. Currently, Barakat Gallery is located in London, UK; Los Angeles, USA; Hong Kong; and Seoul, South Korea. Barakat Seoul is an exhibition space opened by Barakat Gallery in Seoul in 2016. Presenting the Barakat artifact collection through permanent and special exhibitions, Barakat Seoul aims for boundary-crossing exhibitions that encompass ancient artifacts and contemporary art, where art and daily life coexist harmoniously. Additionally, apart from Barakat Seoul, which focuses on artifact collections, Barakat Contemporary is also operated. By showcasing diverse works spanning time and regions, it seeks to broaden the horizon of interpretation through the intersection and collision of heterogeneous cultures.
