Buramsan

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Buramsan (508m) is a mountain rising on the border between Nowon-gu, Seoul and Byeollae-myeon, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, neighboring Suraksan across Deongneung Pass. Although it is the lowest among the five mountains located on the Seoul city boundary, its summit is entirely composed of rocky terrain, offering magnificent views. The mountain's name, Buramsan, comes from its resemblance to a Buddha wearing a songnak (a traditional Korean hat), and it is also called Cheonbosan or Pilamsan. Since Buramsan is made of sandstone, its forests are not dense, but its long ridges provide expansive and refreshing scenery. In spring, the mountain is covered in full bloom with royal azaleas, reminiscent of a flower garden. Along with Bukhansan, Dobongsan, and Gwanaksan, Buramsan is a mountain in the Seoul suburbs with good transportation, attracting many hikers.
