Ganjeolgot

Ganjeolgot in Daesong-ri, Seosaeng-myeon, Ulju-gun is the place on the Korean Peninsula where the sun rises first on the first day of the new millennium. At Ganjeolgot, you can greet the earliest sunrise on the east coast. The Ganjeolgot Lighthouse first lit its light on March 26, 1920, and has consistently guided ships to Ulsan Port for over 100 years. It became famous as the lighthouse at Ganjeolgot where the new millennium sun rose first at '7:31:26 AM on January 1, 2000.' The sunrise here begins one minute earlier than at Homigot in Yeongilman Bay and five minutes earlier than at Jeongdongjin in Gangneung, creating a spectacular scene. Along with Jinha Beach and Seosaengpo Waeseong in the Ulsan area, it is gaining attention as a new attraction. Although it is a 20-minute drive from the entrance of the Ulsan Southern Beltway, the refreshing scenery feels as if you have traveled far away, giving an exotic impression. Inside the white lighthouse standing tall overlooking the sea, there is a spiral staircase, and the view of the sea through the lighthouse window offers a new and different feeling. When acacias bloom, driving along the coastline from Ulsan toward Busan Haeundae, the scent of acacia is more profound than the sea breeze. This road, lined with mountain paths where acacia branches heavy with white blossoms droop down, and where the sea suddenly unfolds, is perfect for a drive at any time.
