Ganjeolgot Hope Trail

Ganjeolgot Hope Trail is a coastal path named after Ganjeolgot, the first place on the Korean Peninsula to welcome the New Year, and the tradition of making wishes for the year ahead during the sunrise. It starts from the northern entrance of Jinhwa Myeongseon Bridge and runs 10km along the southern coast to Sinam Port, consisting of five themed courses: Love, Romance, Happiness, and others. You can see the earliest sunrise in Korea, and there is a 5-meter-tall Hope Mailbox. Modeled after an old mailbox used in the 1970s, it was made in 2006 and is a real mailbox where mail is actually collected. It is also nice to write a letter to a friend or family using free postcards available at nearby shops or cafes. Behind the mailbox stands the Ganjeolgot Lighthouse, selected as one of the 16 beautiful lighthouses, and a windmill with large wings.
