Ganggyeong History Museum

Ganggyeong History Museum (former Hanil Bank Ganggyeong Branch) is an exhibition hall and cultural heritage located in Ganggyeong-eup, Nonsan-si. Established in 1905 as the Hanho Nonggong Bank Ganggyeong Branch, after the national sovereignty was taken away, it was reorganized by the Japanese into the Joseon Industrial Bank and used as the Joseon Industrial Bank Ganggyeong Branch. After liberation, it became the Hanil Bank Ganggyeong Branch, and later the Chungcheong Bank Ganggyeong Branch, representing the modern commerce of the Ganggyeong area as a representative cultural heritage. The exterior of the building is symmetrical on all sides except for the front and vault room, and the ceiling (7.2m) is high, making the interior space appear bright and spacious compared to its size. With ornate decorations on the cornice and a relatively small entrance made of iron doors, this building reflects the authority and functional considerations of a bank. During the Korean War, the roof was destroyed by bombing, but was later partially restored to its original form. Since 2012, it has been repurposed as the Ganggyeong History Museum, where old photos and artifacts of the Ganggyeong area can be viewed. Group reservations can include commentary from a docent of the Ganggyeong History and Culture Research Institute.

Ganggyeong History Museum (former Hanil Bank Ganggyeong Branch) can be accessed via National Route 23, Local Route 68, and Local Route 799. The nearest highways are the Nonsan-Cheonan Expressway's Yeonmu IC and the Honam Expressway Branch's Nonsan IC. For public transportation, the Honam Line's Ganggyeong Station and Ganggyeong Bus Terminal can be used. Nearby attractions include Ganggyeong Jeotgal Market, Ganggyeong History Museum, Ganggyeong Modern Street, and Ganggyeong Port.
