Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Famous as the largest beach on the east coast, it is located in Gangmun-dong and Anhyeon-dong, 6km north of the city center and 1km from Gyeongpodae. It is Myeongsari (O-ri), a five-li stretch of fine sand filled with the blue waves of the East Sea. The harmony of crashing waves that seem to swallow everything, a white sandy beach 1.8km long and 1.44㎢ wide, and a dense pine forest screen that quietly blocks out the noisy daily life create the beach's unique beauty. Gyeongpo Beach has a sandy beach 1.8km long with an average water depth of 1-2m, and its moderate depth and gentle slope attract many visitors every year. The beach is surrounded by a thick pine forest, allowing visitors to enjoy both swimming and forest bathing, making it an ideal summer resort. Every summer, the Summer Night Art Festival is held on the permanent stage at Gyeongpo Beach, offering a variety of cultural attractions. Cycling around Gyeongpo Lake is also a popular activity. Additionally, nearby Seoraksan and Odaesan National Parks allow visitors to explore mountains, seas, and valleys.
